The Underdog

The comedy movie “DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story,” directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, is underlined with satire. The teams showed exaggerated caring in the act of competitive sport culture. With characters like White Goodman, who is the owner of one of the gyms, he is shown to be narcissistic, very shallow, and obsessed with his physical appearance, making him an exaggerated person but also showing us how people can be in positions of power. Another portayed story in this underdog story is the small gym being forclosed and the risk of losing to the big corporation, which makes this foreshadow the ways that big corporations don’t have the same team spirit as smaller businesses, as shown through the story. Even though this is a funny movie, it has a deeper meaning, showing the problems of corporate greed and shutting down small businesses.
